"The Nature of Material"

Özge Çağlayan, who once said, “Even when I start working with a preplanned idea, I often observe that wood transforms into what it wants to be,” continues her architectural career with her studio Antrepo, focusing on wood. Beyond the standard production molds, she works to reveal the nature of wood and the journey of each component, integrating wood’s structural properties into the designs without compromising them, and in doing so, she prefers traditional methods that have been with us for centuries.

The designs that emerge through handcrafting and patience showcase the essence of wood in all its simplicity. As she walks through the workshops of Turkey’s seasoned wood craftsmen, Çağlayan continues to learn from them, integrating what she learns into her own design language and collaborating on production together.
