S Office I Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich
Nestled within the enchanting confines of Zurich’s historic center, resides a true architectural gem with a venerable past. SN Office occupies one of these buildings, quietly aging with time while absorbing the world’s happenings. That’s why when approaching this project our focus was to find a way to intertwine a sense of modernity with the city’s heritage and the buildings’ history.
The original state of the property was well-maintained, featuring high ceilings adorned with intricate plaster moldings, parquet patterns, and exquisite carpentry work on windows, doors, and other typical ornaments of its era. Our project would be just the last step in this relentless process of mutation and adaptation.
Central to our design philosophy is the meticulous selection of materials and color palettes , serving as the foundation of our concept. This deliberate choice not only pays homage to the city’s heritage but also establishes a seamless transition into the modern era.
That’s why throughout our design process, we aimed to create an office space that not only reflected our client’s vision but also deeply resonated with the city’s spirit.
We respected original elements (such as floors, and ceilings) to reveal a concealed essence and bring out the original atmosphere. All the work was based on the premise that the interventions should be silent enough to dispute the attention for the pre-existing. In this sense, the interior design approach was directed towards a careful selection of timeless design pieces and translating important themes such as coziness, integration, and timelessness into the furniture and color palette.
With all of it’s imperfections, the harmonious blend of original and new features, we aimed to create something that honored its origins, and preserved memories, but also explored new paths, giving way to a modern living experience that exudes an elegant and comfortable atmosphere – all in balance.
